Adventure Awaits in Every Direction.
Mount Carleton Provincial Park

Overview

Mount Carleton Provincial Park is one of New Brunswick’s most spectacular natural playgrounds—a true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Paddlers will be captivated by the serene beauty of Nictau Lake, where calm waters and stunning vistas stretch across the horizon, promising an unforgettable day on the water. The park boasts the greatest diversity of wildlife in the province, sheltering over 100 species of birds and 30 different mammals, making it a true paradise for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Come fall, visitors can experience an incredible color show as the forests burst into vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows, making it a must-see destination for leaf peepers. In the winter, the park transforms into a snowmobiling paradise, with miles of groomed trails winding through a snowy wilderness.

As a certified Dark Sky Destination, the park also offers some of the best stargazing opportunities in the province, where visitors can marvel at the night sky in all its unspoiled glory.

For hikers, the trails are as iconic as they are rewarding:

  • Mount Carleton – Conquer the highest peak in the Maritimes!
  • Mount Sagamook – Test yourself on the park’s most challenging hike.
  • Williams Falls – Experience the sights and sounds of this waterfall from every angle, thanks to the lookout platform below and the bridge above.

Camping at Mount Carleton Provinal Park is just as memorable. Choose from four campgrounds and two heritage cabin sites—perfect for larger groups, with some sites accommodating 2–12 people. For a more off-grid experience, hike partway up the Mount Carleton trail to find four secluded campsites nestled in the wilderness. After your adventures, unwind at the beautiful Lodge Café, surrounded by the serene beauty of nature—a perfect ending to a day in New Brunswick’s wild heart.
