Overview

Step into the past at Connell House, a National Historic Site located in New Brunswick’s First Town. This beautifully preserved heritage home showcases a rich collection of historical documents and artifacts that bring the story of Carleton County to life.

Explore four engaging exhibits—both permanent and temporary—including the Music Gallery, which features over 100 instruments from various historical periods and cultural traditions, and the Military Gallery, home to a powerful collection of memorabilia passed down through generations of the Vince family, who proudly served their country in multiple wars and conflicts.

Discover the remarkable legacy of Tappan Adney, an accomplished writer, artist, photographer, and expert on birchbark canoes, whose vivid outdoor adventure stories once captivated readers across North America.

Connell House, along with the nearby Old Carleton County Courthouse, is also featured on a self-guided Heritage Walking Tour that takes visitors through the heart of Woodstock, offering a deeper connection to the town’s historic charm.

Book a guided tour to fully explore the exhibits, enjoy a Conell House Tea Afternoon (check the Facebook page for upcoming dates), and browse the onsite bookshop to take a piece of local history home with you.
